Eversholt Rail and Back Up win Better Society Award

Eversholt Rail and Back Up were announced as the winners of the “Best Scheme to Encourage Staff Fundraising” category at the Better Society Awards Gala held on 11th May.

The wide range of fundraising activities organised by staff included dragon boat racing, cake sales and quiz nights, horse racing and football sweepstakes, Christmas jumper competitions, ice cream sales and bucket collections at stations, and half marathons amounting to over 480 collective miles.
Moreover, staff mentored a wheelchair user during a week’s work experience at Eversholt Rail to support her return to work, while three employees took part in week-long activity courses as ‘buddies’ to wheelchair users, which was funded by Eversholt Rail.

Mary Kenny, Chief Executive Officer at Eversholt Rail, said: “We are very proud of what we have achieved together with Back Up, and delighted to have jointly won this award. Our success in surpassing our already ambitious target was based on the brilliant and warm collaboration with Back Up, the genuine connection between our staff and the cause and the great variety of engaging activities organised by our team. Experiencing the work Back Up does first hand has personally benefitted every individual involved and left the Eversholt Rail team a closer and more supportive workforce.”

“Every so often a corporate partner comes along who you just click with. Eversholt Rail were just that.  They were great fun to work with and they threw everything into fundraising and volunteering.  For a company of just over 100 employees, they punched well above their weight raising an average of £400/head during the partnership.  We are thrilled that their efforts have been recognised through this award.” Sean McCallion, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Back Up
