Class 195

The class 195 units are a DMU fleet built by CAF, based on their Civity platform, in their factories in Irun, Spain and Newport, Wales.

They are used on Northern services.

The units have open gangways for improved passenger movement and security, high acceleration for improved journey times, hydro-dynamic braking, air conditioning and WiFi throughout, they also have a seat reservation system with en-route update capability.

These trains are maintained by Northern at their Newton Heath Depot with support from CAF under a Technical Support and Spares Supply Agreement.

The fleet is currently configured as:

  • 33 x 3 car units
  • 25 x 2 car units
